NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

(Click on the button below to view a list of Block Captain contact information)

The Sheriff for Talbot County, is very supportive of the Neighborhood Watch Program. Steve Elliott, in the Sheriff’s Office, is developing a data base comprised of the principle contacts for Neighborhood Watch in each of the HOA’s in the County. This will help keep Talbot County Residents better informed.

Block Captains volunteered to become acquainted with an assigned area and contact residents within that area to inform them of the Neighborhood Watch plan for Rio Vista. Our goal is to be “neighbors watching out for neighbors”.

Working with the Talbot County Sheriff’s department, a training class was held for the volunteers. Afterward they fanned out into Rio Vista to share that training with the neighbors in their assigned areas.

WHAT TO DO WHEN

Basically, everyone is encouraged to notice what is going on in the neighborhood and to alert the Sheriff’s Department of any suspicious activity:

  • For non-emergency situations, call (410) 822-1020
  • In emergencies, call 911

All calls to (410) 822-1020 are treated as anonymous if the caller indicates that preference.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Residents are directed not to take any action other than making the phone call to law enforcement and to place warning calls to neighbors if necessary.
